RACHEAL

Racheal is the sweetest 6 year old I’ve ever met.  She loves balloons and her smile is infectious. When I first saw her at Nairobi Children’s Home, she was playing by herself on the swings, with a giant grin spread across her face.  She didn’t have many friends there but was happy to entertain herself. Racheal loved class-time at Nairobi Children’s Home. She liked to practice writing the alphabet, though she wrote most letters backwards.  She also especially enjoyed my science demonstrations, such as spinning water in a bucket, or experimenting with ice. Nevertheless, as often as I would find her smiling and laughing, I would also find her quietly crying.

Updates from 2024:

Racheal turned 19 this year. She is often quiet and focused but has an infectious smile. She recently finished high school and took her high school exit exams in December. She is waiting for her exam scores to determine what course of study she can pursue next.  Her dream is to study nursing. Outside of school, she loves music and dancing.
